If you love creating, collaborating and making things from scratch, this is the program for you! Now in it's second summer, GENERATE offers the opportunity to boost arts-based skills and technique while creating work in your chosen discipline from start to finish. We offer majors in Theatre, Film, Music and Studio Art/Photography. Learn hands-on from working artists and industry professionals and enjoy time and space to create in the beautiful environs of Westmont College. Learn new techniques, expand your skills, build your portfolio or audition repertoire and meet like-minded creatives at Generate/2021.

Learn from professional artists, connect with like-minded creatives and build your portfolio and skills at Generate.

How the program is structured:

Mornings 9 - 12.30: Workshops

Each morning offers workshops in your discipline from our faculty of professional, working artists. Boost your skills, build your portfolio and experiment with new mediums, techniques and approaches.

Afternoons 1.30 - 5.00: Create in your chosen discipline

Afternoons will be spent in studio and rehearsal time collaborating with your faculty mentors and fellow artists as you move your projects from concept to completion.  You’ll be encouraged to play, experiment and push your own boundaries as you explore what you want to create to be premiered at the end of the program.

Discover your unique voice and learn how to translate it into a bold, original, dramatic performance. Led by New York theatre artist Gabriel Grilli, Theatre majors will explore “Ensemble Building Blocks” -- techniques which incorporate practices pioneered by artists such as SITI, Complicité, Robert Lepage, and Frantic Assembly that centers around movement, writing, improvised performance, theatricality, use of space, and creative storytelling. Combining elements of Narrative Storytelling and Devised Ensemble techniques such as Viewpoints and other space/body practices, Theatre majors will create a completely original theatre piece to be performed at the end of the program.

Paint outdoors in the beautiful environs of Westmont College, collaborate on projects with other students, and enjoy having time and space to work on your art this summer!
